Races
Once, long ago, six omnipotent beings created the world of Rapria. They gave it mountains, oceans, forests, plains, and more. Then each being created one race, which was given a place to live. Thus the people of Rapria were best suited for their environments.

The Voladorm got the heights, the Hafu the oceans, the Erdi the plains, the Egyzemor the mountain caves, the Humans the forest, and the Bisegus, because they could adapt their shapes, were given anything left. The beings populated the world with lesser animals for service and food.

This was the First Age.

Human(HU-mun)
Humans are bipedal, with two arms and two legs. They originally made their homes in the forests or Rapria, but learned to clear those and built towns and cities. Most are farmers, fishers, or hunters, but many are skilled in other crafts, especially forging.

They dominate most of the land, except where erdi live. Humans work the best with the erdi and egyzemors, and most of their cities will be well populated by those races as well. They hate and fear bisegus, not trusting the shapeshifters.

Masters of many weapons.

Egyzemor(egg-ee-ZEE-mor)
Egyzemors are the giants of Rapria’s races, with the average adult standing over 7 feet tall. They are bipedal, with two arms and two legs, like oversized humans, but possess only one large eye rather than two. They live inside mountains, where their immense strength is put to use in mining and creating elaborate tunnel systems along with large ornate caverns.

Their bodies are mostly covered by 1/4 inch fur-like hair to keep them warm and they can see well in low light. Egyzemors speak with few words when using Waylan, which belies their intelligence. They are much more loquacious in their native tongue, Magya. Overall, they are friendly and trusting, but when angered, they can become a major threat.

Along with mining, Egyzemors are also skilled chemists, extracting fluids from subterranean plants, molds, and creatures to produce compounds like the long burning pulveld.

They can use swords and spears like humans, but most bows are too small, and useless in caves where they live. They prefer blunt weapons like clubs, maces, and hammers, the last of which they often employ hammers in the tunnel making.

Voladorm(vohl-A-dorm)
Voladorms look similar to humans in build, usually standing a few inches shorter than their human counterparts. The main differences in appearance are their large, bird-like wings allowing them to fly, and their larger eyes, smaller nose, and rounded bumps where ears would be.

They make their homes at the tops of mountain and cliffs, trading and sometimes working with egyzemors. They keep their interactions with the other races to a minimum, though, deeming anyone unable to fly as beneath them. Their native language lacks a definite article, so most drop it when speaking Waylan, giving their speech a clipped sound.

Voladorms are skilled engineers, using with wood, metal, and rope to create elaborate constructions, but they rarely share these with others.

They can use the same weapons as humans, but prefer flying away to fighting. In battle, they may employ their skyhooks, which are long steel rods with curved handles and two curving pointed ends.

Bisegus(bi-ZEE-gus)
Little is known about bisegus. They are shapeshifters, living in hiding among other races by taking on their forms. Because of their physical malleability, they are highly resilient and hard to kill. They are expert mimics, with nearly perfect memories.

They most commonly simulate humans and egyzemors, as their forms are the easiest to imitate, having a minimum number of limbs to manipulate. The greatest crime among their kind is revealing another bisegus.

They will use whatever weapon they need to complete their disguise.

Hafu(HA-foo)
Hafu live in the oceans and waterways of Rapria, building their cities in the depths. They are covered in brightly colored scales and fins, with gills to breathe underwater and fishlike tails for swimming.

They believe all life began in the oceans, so those walking on land are corrupted. Still, some choose to live among the other races, undergoing a procedure which splits their tails into legs.

Hafu mainly use nets and daggers made of bone, shells, or rust resistant metal as weapons. These are employed for fishing and combat with other tribes in disputes over hunting areas.

Erdi(ER-dee)
Erdi is an overall name for three species, erdi’zal, erdi’hun, and erdi’mus. All share the traits of humanoid upper torsos with the lower body similar to an animal. Their hands each have two thumbs, giving them more dexterity with tools and working materials. Each erdi has two sets of eyes, with one facing forward, the other facing the sides, giving them a full range of vision with little movement.

Erdi’zal are the most commonly seen among other races. Their hindquarters are a mix of horse and cat, with the powerful muscles of a horse and the padded feet and tail of a cat. They are good-natured, often jovial, but can turn nasty if you compare them to horses.

Erdi’zal make their homes on the plains and grasslands where they hunt and raise animals for trade, like burrals. Much of their time is bound up in competition with other tribes, called herriad, for hunting territory. This has honed their skills as superior warriors.

Erdi’hun are less common, as they try to avoid places where erdi’zal are living or working. Erdi’hun are smaller in build, with the hindquarters and horns of a goat, but the padded feet similar to cats. They are considered lesser people by erdi’zal, and when the two kinds meet, it can lead to violence.

Erdi’mus rare, making their homes in deserts, with their backends similar to a lizard’s. They are despised by both erdi’zal and erdi’hun.

Erdi can use swords, but prefer longbows and knives. Beside animal trade, they are skilled weavers, producing elaborate sculptures and products from grass and wood.
